Magic is Gale's life. Born to a wealthy family, Gale Dekarios showed magical talent at an early age, plucked from obscurity by Elminster and able to enroll in Blackstaff Academy. Such were his talents that he also caught the attention of Mystra, the goddess of magic herself. First his teacher, and later his muse and his lover, Gale was at the height of his power as an archmage and one of her Chosen. But in seeking to prove himself worthy to his goddess, Gale made a terrible miscalculation that ended in him becoming the host to a hungry orb of Karsite magic. He was cast out of Mystra's light, no longer a Chosen and losing most of his power in the process, left to handle the dangerously destructive orb on his own. After spending a year shut away from the world, Gale was one of the unlucky victims kidnapped by mind flayers and infected with a tadpole, beginning a strange new adventure...
